Recruitment Information for 2010 Season

Now that the 2009 season has come to an end, Bill Self is looking forward to the future and that means continuing recruitment for the 2010-2011 season.

It has been confirmed that 6-foot-3 guard Royce Woolridge has committed to KU. Other high school players considering KU are No. 4-ranked (Rivals.com) player Josh Selby, a 6-foot-2 guard from Baltimore, Brandon Knight, a No. 1-ranked point guard from Fort Lauderdale, and No. 21-ranked Doron Lamb from Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.
Brandon Knight's father has confirmed that he will commit to a team "around the 14th (of April)." Knight is also considering Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Miami.

Coach Self says he'd like to sign one or two more players this spring.

"mad, upset, competitive and ‘let’s get back to work.’"

Article provided by LJ World:
Bill Self has been able to put Kansas University’s season-ending basketball loss to Northern Iowa in perspective.

“This is not life or death, although in our world it’s serious,” Self, KU’s seventh-year coach, said Tuesday at his season-ending news conference in Allen Fieldhouse. “I am not in mourning. I am down. I’ve been down before. I’ve been down during the season.”

Aside from being down ... Self said he’s “sad, disappointed, hurt and then my emotions will turn to mad, upset, competitive and ‘let’s get back to work.’ So I’m not quite there yet, but I think I can get there pretty quickly and then your emotions will turn to excited about the next group you get an opportunity to work with because I do think regardless of what happens with who stays or who goes (to NBA), I think we have a chance to be very good next year.

“I’m getting closer to the point of being a little angry and ready to get back to work, to be real candid with you.”

Aldrich, Henry still unsure of their futures

The Kansas City Star and Coach Bill Self have confirmed that Kansas Junior Cole Aldrich and Freshman Xavier Henry have yet to announce whether or not they will be returning as a Jayhawk next season or heading to the NBA. Both are seen as first-round picks.

All season, Bill Self has told fans not to get their hopes up about Aldrich returning for his Senior year.
"Don't hold your breath." he jokingly told spectators at the 2010 Senior Night at Allen Fieldhouse. The crowd had chanted, "One more year!"
At his season-ending news conference, Coach Self told reporters, "Cole and I visited yesterday. To me, with Cole it doesn’t have much to do with where people have him projected. We know he’s going to get drafted pretty high. It’s what would be best for his family."
For those urgent to know what Cole chooses, Coach predicts he will "probably have a decision sometime next week."

As of Xavier Henry, Self said, "I’ll meet with X. I saw him briefly yesterday, didn’t really talk about much. I’ll meet with him and see what he and his family want me to do. I’m not going to do something they don’t want me to do. That’ll be a family decision. (There’s) no timetable I have whatsoever on them getting together and making a decision."

Do YOU think they should stay?

C.J. and Xavier Henry interview

While they were still in Oklahoma City for the NCAA tournament, Xavier and C.J. Henry were asked a few questions at the Ford Center before a team meeting. They were also asked some questions about each other, and the answers are pretty interesting!
